Patient Safety

Extensive security measures create trust

Clinical risk management is aimed at preventing errors or risks of patient care in a systematic way, thus increasing patient safety. As part of our risk management, we have established various modules in our clinic to avoid adverse events that could cause harm. This includes:

  • Screening for multi-resistant microorganisms (e.g. MRSA)
  • Application of checklists (e.g. team-time-out (confusion possibilities during operations, completeness of the instruments, etc.))
  • Established hygiene management with exclusively trained hygienists. The team consists of hygiene specialists, hygienic doctors, hygiene officers in nursing care and the hospital hygienist.
  • Innovative surface cleaning and disinfection program with the KDS hygienic seal
  • Computer-assisted review of drug prescriptions for interactions and contraindications (CPOE system (computerized physician order entry), Scholz database

  • Complaint and error management – Staff and patients have the opportunity to report their dissatisfactions directly via the “complaints and error report” form. Hand hygiene: the entire hospital staff is systematically and regularly trained in hand hygiene. For each station, we measure the consumption of hand disinfectants and the compliance of the hand hygiene rules. We have successfully participated in the “Clean Hands” campaign for years and are currently holding the bronze certificate
  • HACCP (food safety) Strict rules regulate the production, storage, processing and preparation of the foodstuffs for the protection of the consumer. Large catering facilities must pay particular attention to hygiene in handling food.
  • Continuous development and implementation of risk management in hospitals (SEA Significant Event Audit). Risk management in the hospital is very complex and has more than one objective: Minimize the risks to patients, the hospital and its employees.

Representative for medical device safety

Health care facilities with more than 20 employees must appoint an agent for the safety of medical devices. The commissioner works closely with authorities, manufacturers and distributors in connection with reports on the risks of medical devices.
